The Eleventh Month: September
26th
Dear T, you were such an entertainer today. I was trying to sleep, and feed you back to sleep. You are full of cold, and me with a bit of flu, all exhausted. But you sat up, full of beans, and held onto the cot, leaning in. So I asked if you wanted to go in and play with the monkey, whom you’ve never shown any interest in, and amazingly, you lay there, looking into his face and babbled away at him, smiling and chatting for ten minutes while I attempted a snooze.
Days fly by now, no time fro writing. We have been too busy and hardly at home, the second week back from our lovely Sardinian holiday. So you have snatched naps, in the car and buggy, and I curse myself for not being at home where I have a million things to do. Swimming on Tuesdays, Steiner parent and toddler group on Thursdays, seeing friends, home to cook, tidying up, hanging washing and chasing 100s of things around the house which already seems a permanent bombsite.
What are you doing at the moment? Up and down the stairs like lightening, you love chasing and pushing things around; a glass bottle of water; a cardboard box; and dropping things, pebbles into the bath, your plastic spade into the loo; and eating stones, and generally trying the shape of things in your mouth.
